Hot Stone Massage

Heated stone massage is an ancient technique used by Native Americans and Europeans as early as 1500 B.C.  Intended to be extremely relaxing, a heated stone massage involves the placement of sanitized, warmed, smooth rocks (usually basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat) upon different parts of the body. Typically, the treatment is done in conjunction with traditional massage techniques, such as Swedish massage, and the stones may be used with applied pressure by the massage therapist during the treatment. Often, stones also are placed--and left for a period of time--on certain body parts such as the spine, hands or belly, and replaced once they cool. Cool stones may also be used to address muscle injury.

Introduction to Bowen Therapy

The Bowen Technique uses a series of simple, gentle moves across muscle and connective tissue. It is similar to tuning a stringed instrument that sends harmonic vibrations that balance the body. Because it works in harmony with the body, the Bowen Technique is incredibly effective for any muscular, skeletal, or nerve imbalance. It has also been successful in treating chronic pain due to injury. The technique is so gentle it can be used on anyone from infants to the elderly. It produces a deep relaxation and can release blocked emotional energy, which can accelerate the healing process.

Myofascial Release instructed by Walt Fritz
From Myofascial Release Foundation
Waltfritzseminars.com

Myofascial Release is a therapy modality that is accepted by the medical community and health insurers. Foundations in Myofascial Release Seminars are built upon a deep model of evaluation and treatment. Starting with Foundations I, you will learn the concept of deep evaluation. A thorough understanding of how posture, soft tissue limitation and tightness, orthopedic asymmetries, and movement disorders contribute to dysfunction is taught and followed into practice. Advanced Foundations Seminars add layers of depth to your evaluation; bringing true understanding to your treatment.

Foundations in Myofascial Release Seminars are designed for both beginner and experienced therapists. Using an easy to follow approach, Foundations Seminars will build the confidence of a beginner to start using this valuable modality from the first day. Those who have taken other myofascial release seminars will find this a fresh approach to evaluation and treatment. Following the deep model of evaluation, therapists will be able to easily connect findings to treatment.

Cupping Massage

A wonderful ancient technique has found its place in the modern world of healing. Cupping bodywork is based on the common practice of Chinese cupping therapy, and the incredible results that this simple treatment produces have truly impressed those who experience its subtle power.

By creating suction and negative pressure, Cupping therapy is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. Cupping bodywork is versatile and can easily be modified to accomplish a range of techniques, from lymphatic drainage to deep tissue release. This complements many health modalities ranging from spa treatments to medical massage and physical therapy.

Fascial Bodywork

A focused training of the fascial network could be of great importance for therapists who have clients who are athletes, dancers, golfers and other movement advocates. Many problems that affect muscles aren’t resolved by working on the muscles alone. The protective connective tissue sheaths around muscles, called fascia, often become stuck and glued to adjacent sheaths and inhibit movement of the muscles, structures, and organs within. The release of adhesions in fascia requires experience, knowledge of its layers, and properly guided touch. If one‘s fascial body is well conditioned, that is to say optimally elastic and resilient, then it can be relied on to perform effectively and, at the same time, offer a high degree of injury prevention. A unique characteristic of connective tissue is its impressive adaptability: when regularly put under            increasing physiological strain, it changes its architectural properties to meet the demand.

Fascial Bodywork is more than deep tissue massage.  It is an effective approach to deal with the ill-results of accidents, injuries, surgeries, neck, back and joint pain, poor posture, chronic tension, and the ill effects of emotions. By using a combination of manual techniques the body becomes aligned and balanced. Connective tissue tension is eased, muscles lengthen, the nervous system is released and joints move with freedom and balance, and the body regains its innate vertical alignment.
